AX-ZIP Archiver 4.4

There are a ton of archiver software out there, the most well-known being the "in eternally free trial" WinRAR. That's usually more than enough for most users, but there are a ton of other programs out there that can do the job, and do it potentially better than WinRAR. One of them is AX-ZIP Archiver, a program that supports a veritable sea of formats and works fast as well. 

On first bootup, you'll notice that AX-ZIP Archiver's interface is incredibly streamlined. It's separated into two panes. One pane displays your drive in a tree format, making it easy to see which files you want to put into a zip archive. The other pane is the archive pane, where you can actually create archives. To do so, you can drag and drop files from the browser pane into the archive pane. You can easily drag and drop files from other applications to create archives. This program is designed for the common ZIP format, but can also handle RAR file.

This program isn't perfect, however, It doesn't give you any way to create password protected archives, and I couldn't find it anywhere. Even the help file didn't make any mention of creating password protected files. While that may be a major turn off for veteran users, this program is still faster and easier to use than most other archive programs for novices - and there are alternate methods to password protect your archives. Overall, I give AX-Zip Archiver a very easy recommend.
