Boneko prototype is a low poly platform adventure game where you play as a young girl called Bony and you discover your cat “Boneko” has drunk some kind of magical fluid that has not only left him without arms and legs buts also given him the power of speech.
You set out on an adventure through a mansion to try to find the antidote to turn him back in to a normal cat but it will be filled with enemies and traps along the way, luckily you (after a short amount of time) have the ability to fire lazer beams of some kind which makes getting past the little monsters (who happen to be made from balls of yarn which you must collect after defeating them).
Boneko is fun and simple enough to play the difficulty though is that it’s all a bit too simple, the game play doesn’t really flow nicely, it’s not overly fast or slow, it just can feel a bit….bland.
Perhaps it’s because the platform genre has been done so many times and so much better before but this game left us feeling a bit empty, the humor and cut scenes are very good but the game itself is rather boring.
This may appeal to young gamers who want something to play that is fairly simple and shouldn’t leave you getting stuck at any point but if you are looking for a challenge this probably isn’t the game for you.
It’s also worth keeping in mind that this is still a prototype version of the game and that changes could still be made.
