Change demo is a very personal journey from the developers Delve Interactive which is based on their story during development of their previous game Poncho which although was very well received on release they struggled and came close to bankruptcy during the development of the game and homelessness could have become a possibility luckily that never happened but during that time one of the developers made an early prototype of Change for a Ludum Dare game jam and now they are developing a full version.
The game takes place in a randomly generated city where you must survive life on the streets, your main objectives are to find work, make sure you have shelter in the evenings and beg or work for money to make sure you can buy food and stay healthy and hungry, you can also search trash cans for food but this could make you ill.
As you beg people on the street depending on their responses this will affect your happiness levels which you must also remember to try to keep up by eating or hopefully having nice interactions with the public.
Although unusual it’s a strangely addictive game with elements of strategy sadly the demo only allows you to play the first three days of the game however it’s enough to get a feel of just what promise Change shows and there’s enough different things to mean that you will come back at least a few times.
If you’d like to support the development of this game the Kickstarter page can be found here.
You can download the demo here for free.
