The most common security methods for Windows are to create backups and checkpoints before installing something risky or creating a virtual environment that's isolated from the rest of the computer to test said risky things in a vacuum. While all those are good and well, OSes tend to also age naturally, with more and more clutter gunking up the flow no matter how much you clean them out. Clean Slate offers another solution - to simply reset everything back to the original state it came in, and also track all activity.
Clean Slate's installation procedure is more complicated than most. You need to specify where it should store configuration files, and also set an administration password towards the end of the procedure that's unique to the program. Once you've set it up, you'll have to select what configuration to use. The default one is good enough - it will restrict access of all non-admin users who attempt to make permanent changes to the desktop, system directory, of Windows registry.
You can also manage all file and registry operations, and view them in the cache viewer. Here, you will be able to see all changes before they are applied and choose whether or not to let them through. And of course, you can reset all settings and the OS itself in the main interface. It will repeatedly ask for confirmation before doing so.
Considering all these features, recommending Clean Slate comes easy. It is a comprehensive security program that can also serve as a panic reset button should you need it.
