Point and click games used to be all the craze until around the 2010s. Now, they're usually relegated to mid size productions or simple indie titles. The genre also proved incredibly popular among flash game creators, due to the relatively simple planning and programming that goes into such a game. One creator, Hottategoya, became known for short, bite-sized escape room games. Let's look at a work of his - Escape from the Room Surrounded by Bookshelves.

This game has no story, which is completely fine, as the game is incredibly short. The setting takes after the first entry in terms of uniqueness - it's a complete maze, that is incredibly difficult to navigate, with puzzles dotted throughout that all let you escape from this maze.

Unfortunately, Hottategoya hasn't improved navigation for the second entry of the series either, and it becomes a massive problem here as you're in a maze. The navigation buttons feel like they're barely connected to each other and has no rhyme or reason - thus, most of your struggles will be actually navigating the maze rather than solving the puzzles.

All in all, Escape from the Room Surrounded by Bookshelves is a great introduction to the series and gives you a hint of what's to come.
