The Mass Effect trilogy is one of the best game trilogies around. There hasn't been a fully original space opera game saga before or after it came out, and the fact that it manages to even exist is a small miracle. However, the trilogy has been overshadowed overall by its ending, which was one of, if not the, most disappointing endings in gaming history. Of course, with the existence of modding, fans have taken it upon themselves to fix the ending. One of the best ones is JohnP's Alternate MEHEM.

To install JohnP's Alternate MEHEM, make sure you have Mass Effect 3 installed and then simply run the installer.

MEHEM is an acronym for Mass Effect Happy Ending Mod, which does exactly what it stands for on the tin. However, what is the JohnP's Alternate part for? Well, this mod is a modified version of the original MEHEM, because this creator decided that that mod changed too much. That mod modified many parts of the ending with custom scenes that many feel are of a noticeably lower quality, and annexed the original endings in many ways.

This mod is much more subtle. It keeps much of the original endings intact, but changes it in a way that makes each of the choices presented to you lead to a happy ending. It kept the most important part of MEHEM - an epilogue scene starring the main character and confirming they survived.

All in all, JohnP's Alternate MEHEM is a great ending mod for fans of the trilogy.
