The Aftermath is billed as the Papers, Please of the afterlife and while that might be a bit of a stretch it’s certainly nowhere as detailed as Papers, Please you can see why the comparison was drawn as your job here is to decide whether people should go to heaven or hell based on just some very basic information such as their name, age, hobbies and a couple of details about how they lived their lives.
It’s very intriguing to have this kind of power over people’s lives and to an extent play St. Paul (or whoever) at the pearly gates and deciding who gets a life of eternal bliss or who goes in to the fiery pits of hell.
After 50 or so papers it does become a little bit repetitive and we were hoping for some kind of evaluation of our performance from our superiors and to find out whether we had sent the correct people to the correct after life however when you leave the game you are asked to do one final evaluation and you can guess who that will be on however it does feel a bit hollow after one play through knowing that no matter who you send where there will be no repercussions.
It’s worth taking a quick look and play through The Aftermath but it certainly not in the same league as Papers, Please!
