Point and click games used to be all the craze until around the 2010s. Mateusz Skutnik is one of the best creators of the genre. Less known is that he's actually part of a team - Pastel Games - and that they assisted in many of his best-known games. He in turn has contributed to their work, with one of them being the Tortuga series. Let's look at Tortuga Episode 1.
To play Tortuga Episode 1, just run it with whatever SWF player you have.
This is a pirate series, which is a completely unexplored genre in general by Skutnik. When I booted this game up, I was looking forward to how his art style would carry into this genre - and I must say, I wasn't disappointed whatsoever. Skutnik's reigned in his signature atmospheric style that fills one with dread for a more conventionally beautiful game. Not that it's a bad thing - in fact, his attention to detail is still as strong as ever, and the game feels like a blend between a painting and a cartoon at times.
Gameplay-wise, it's pretty much the same as every other Skutnik offering. There's some fairly clever puzzles, but it's overall pretty easy and fairly short. There's no real hurdles you need to get over.
All in all, if you're a fan of Skutnik's work, you should definitely give Tortuga Episode 1 a download.
