Where There Once Was Sand is a very cool exploration, puzzle and adventure game. You play as a robot who is following orders from a professor who is researching the lost civilization of Mu but is about to lose his funding and is a rather downtrodden fellow in general.
You are sent to discover the area and look for gems for the mining company that is currently providing the funding of this research and also you must collect the professor’s diary pages which have been blown away in the wind and as you discover more of them you get a glimpse in to the rather sad life of the professor however as you complete more missions the relationship between the two of you warms nicely and the professor starts to give you upgrades such as the ability to be able to jump as you return more gems and diary pages to him.
The game looks really nice and at first the world seems huge however it was a little disappointing to find it pulled me round in circles even though I only walked to right although I suppose in sand it can be hard to tell exactly the direction you were walking in.
The scenery looks great and at one point getting a glimpse of my robots silhouette was a very cool as you have no idea what you look like, the relationship between the professor and you can be quite funny and a little strange at times, I was quite shocked when he told me he fancied me!
Where There Once Was Sand is a very cool little game and if you enjoy puzzle adventure games you should have a blast with this.
