Who Killed My Uncle? is a curious game where you play as a World War 2 postal censor keeping tabs on correspondence between troops and their loved ones back home although you only really get an insight in to one correspondence between a newly enlisted soldier and his relative.
Your job is to make sure nothing that could give away intelligence to the enemy gets through the censors so if there is any information on troop movements, locations, names of any army personnel or any other information that could be used by the enemy and then use a marker pen to cross it out before sending the letter on.
The premise behind the game is very interesting and seeing snippets in to someone else’s life is always an intriguing prospect and it’s hard not to be reminded of the fantastic game “Papers, Please” however Who Killed My Uncle? is a lot more linear in the fact that you can’t actually stamp and send on the censored letter until all the correct parts are censored out which means there is not really any way to fail at the game which takes away from the game filling its full potential as it would have been very cool to see the effects of how the information you forgot to censor fell in to the wrong hands.
That aside this is a very intriguing and different game, be aware it is all text based but if you’re in the mood for something a bit different and thought provoking you could do a lot worse.
