ALPHA ACCIDENT 1.0

Wraith is one of the more well known creators among the DOOM community. He created Wonderful Doom, which was a loving tribute to Ultimate Doom, with many both loving and criticizing it for it level of devotion. However, it was a high quality map regardless, and he went on to create another megawad - Alpha Accident, which was in development for a long time.

Installing Alpha Accident is simple. You need to have ZDoom and move the WAD file into the GZDoom folder, which is pretty par for the course for DOOM maps.

The story of this game takes place in conjunction with the original Doom. You play as one of the squadmates of the Doomguy who stayed behind to keep inspecting the Mars facility, and things go south for you just as fast as it did for Doomguy's squad.

The game's map design leads me to think of a dungeon crawler rather than a traditional Doom level. It has an incredibly non-linear design that is also incredibly complex. There are also a ton of new objects that were added to add a bit more flavor. For example, there is a non-toxic barrel - it has a hitbox and gets in your way, but will fall over after it's shot. That means it can either be an obstacle or temporary cover.

More tiny additions like that dotted throughout the levels give it a flavor that you can't find in many other DOOM maps. If that sounds like something you'd want to play, then you should give Alpha Accident a download.
