Base Ganymede 1.0

DOOM is one of the oldest FPSes in existence, and its engine is famously so robust that it can run on pretty much anything and also create pretty much anything.  From FPSes to RPGs to companions to a city living game, it has a ton of different mods and maps that can all do different things. One of the many is Base Ganymede.

To install Base Ganymede, you need to have ZDoom and move the WAD file into the GZDoom folder, which is pretty par for the course for DOOM maps.

When you start playing this game, you'll notice that the maps play incredibly fast and have a similar feel in terms of map flow and progression. The creator decided to cut down on the amount of different enemies, but has found other ways to challenge you. You're going to be mobbed by tons of monsters. Expect to see packs of imps either hunting you or camping out on ledges, and legions of zombies that inflict damage via attrition. However, the most threatening are the Cacodemon, which come at you in swarms and are difficult to maneuver around while also eating a ton of ammunition.

Every single level starts up in a tech base and ends in Hell, which is in contrast to DOOM levels that typically spread this out over the course of several levels. However, this helps give each level a distinct feel despite the similar flow by varying the appearance of the bases.

Overall, Base Ganymede has incredibly fast pace and is a unique experience. Give it a download.
