Cho-Am is the grave site of the infamous Cambodian dictator Pol Pot, and that is what this game is about a visit to see the grave site of the man of who committed mass genocide in his country, already it’s an incredibly strange premise for a game, whether this can really be called a game is debatable.
You play as a sort of generic yellow man (or woman) who looks to be naked on their visit to this historical sight and the idea is to work out the characters feelings and emotions as during the game you will stop and see the character enlarged in a box at the corner of the screen, they may sit down on a piece of ground or make a strange motion whilst near a tree, but it really felt like this game had no real focus to it.
Whether we missed something not really having much interest or knowledge in pol Pot himself may have hindered our playing experience and it is quite hard to find positives about Cho-Am (the game not the place of course, we’re sure it’s lovely), whether the poignancy of it was lost on ignorant people such as us but it is very hard to recommend this game for anything except its weirdness.
If you are in the mood for something (very) different then this might be for you, but those looking for a linear gaming experience will not find it here.
