Low budget indie games tend to be some of the most creative around, assuming they aren't just flipping assets poorly in Unity. Without the budget to create an epic, the creators instead need to focus on one unique feature to make their games stick out. From these restrictions come some truly inventive concepts. One of them is EXPERIMENT: GROCERIES, which is a PS1 style horror game where you go to a supermarket that steadily gets more and more decrepit by the day until things get...incredibly weird.
To play EXPERIMENT: GROCERIES, simply run the executable after unzipping it to a folder.
The premise of the game is simple. You drop by your local supermarket each day to pick up some groceries. However, the supermarket has some strange things about it. For one, there are some security cameras that are incredibly intrusive, with some even being inside the toilet stalls. Another thing that's strange is that every night, the place gets more and more run-down and messy, with it eventually culminating in the front doors being broken down.
It culminates in the second half of the game taking a turn for the worse, with the area suddenly being plunged in pure darkness while the aisles are strewn across the ground as strange entities are blinking in and out of existence. The atmosphere created is top tier horror and was genuinely difficult to play through.
All in all, if you want to play a game with an incredibly unique premise, then you should give EXPERIMENT: GROCERIES a download.
