Football Tactics Demo 1.0

Football Tactics Demo warns to expect less Football Manager more of a Civilization or XCOM type game but with a soccer theme to it.

The game is more about strategy and trying to make the right moves, each team gets three moves where you can change your players position, if you have the ball in possession you can choose to pass or you can shoot depending if you are close enough to goal or not. You can also choose to tackle if you’re not in possession however if your player fails to be successful in the tackle you will not be able to make another move with that player even if you still have moves remaining to be used you will have to pick another player for your next move.

The idea is a curious one as I don’t know if the world of soccer and turn based strategy games really have a cross over audience? Not sure if this game can be that successful, there is also a management element included outside of the match day experience however it’s a little unclear and confusing also because the player’s names are all fabricated it’s hard to tell which are the good players you should invest in and which should be avoided, another reason the transfer system is kind of irrelevant is that the actual match day experience is over far too quickly and each team only really seems to get a maximum of three turns each during the match day and the minutes count down very quickly meaning the game can be over before either you or the opposition have barely had a chance to attack each other’s goals. Because the matches are over so quickly and are fairly easy to win at least in this demo version anyway there’s seem to be no point using the transfer market to improve your squad.

In its favor Football Tactics demo is really nicely made with bright colorful graphics, enjoyable chirpy background music that makes the overall experience very enjoyable it’s just whether this kind of game centered around soccer is very necessary that remains a question however if there are some of you out there who are fans of turn based strategies and soccer then you’d probably enjoy this game.
