Tower Defense games have generally fallen out of favor in the mainline gaming industry in the 21st century. There are very few tower defense games in the AAA market, and even if they're there, it's usually as part of a gimmick or a minigame. Thus, Flash games have had time to refine and innovate on the formula by themselves. The Kingdom Rush series is probably the best example of this innovation, with many imitators coming in. One of them is the Incursion series. Let's look at Incursion 2.

To play Incursion 2, simply run the game with whatever SWF player you have.

This game, taking inspiration from Kingdom Rush, now has a hero unit as well. This hero will be the only hero at your disposal, but as the game progresses, he quickly learns unique spells and skills. 

Just like the first game, each tower can hold any combination of three units and you can't upgrade them until you have three units in the tower. You even have the option to buy special items, buy new spells, and more. The game is very much as difficult as its inspiration and you'll need to actually think really hard about the strategy you'll use.

All in all, this is a fantastic tower defense game. You need to give Incursion 2 a try if you like the genre.
