A free personal firewall and network monitor developed by SecureMix LLC, GlassWire includes a network monitor among its many features to keep users aware of the threats that they encounter in their use of the Internet. Unless the network monitor on Windows, GlassWire visualizes all end point network activity on an easy to use graph which will help you understand what your computer is doing and what it is connecting to. 

The software is keen on the many threats you can encounter over your network and the Internet, and makes sure you are informed when you do encounter these threats. These threats include changes to network related files, ARP spoofing, proxy changes, DNS changes, Host File changes, and suspicious hosts. You can also block any network connection by going to the "Firewall" tab in the software. This shows all of the applications that are currently using the network, as well as what these applications are connecting to. 

So not only does GlassWire block unwanted connections from connecting to your computer, but it also monitors these connections in real time. You can see all of this information by going to the "Usage" tab with in the application which will show more detailed information about what hosts and applications are generating the most data over your network. This will allow you to not only monitor your network connection, but also assess why there might be a lot of network activity slowing down your network when you really need it. GlassWire can let you know if your computer is getting close to a specified amount of bandwidth use, so if you have a data limit given to you by your ISP you can monitor that you do not go over that limit.
