Microsoft has been good about supporting their newest operating systems with updates, but there's only one problem. They actively force you to update when the time comes. This looks great on paper - everybody receives available bug fixes, patches, or enhancements on time. However, these updates take an insane amount of time, and Microsoft's quality assurance team may let a few new bugs slip through the crack. Should you fall into either of those categories, you'd want to have the ability to choose when to install them and KillUpdate helps you do that.
There's no installation sequence or even an interface to speak of for KillUpdate, no doubt owing to its tiny size. As soon as you're finished installing it and boot it up, it will automatically put itself in system tray. What the tool does is disable Windows from automatically updating when you switch it on. This stops Windows from popping up and telling you that it will automatically update soon and you need to take action.
The idea behind the tool is that it keeps Windows Update service in check and monitors for any change every 10 seconds. In case any other service or process attempts to access the program, it will automatically disable it.
The tool can be manually turned on and off by hitting the locked setting. To make sure you do get updates, turn it off. With how straightforward and easy to use it is, KillUpdate is easy to recommend. It's incredibly lightweight and does its job easily, so if you need something like this give it a download!
