Skyrim has supported mods officially for quite some time now with the official release of the Creation Kit, which helps streamline mod creation. However, before that was released, there were some mods that were released. Those mods had to painstakingly rip out the assets in-game and slap them together in primitive third party programs. That makes Moonpath to Elsweyr all the more impressive, as it's a massive mod that had to be created like that.
To install the Moonpath to Elsweyr, drag it into the Skyrim Data folder, as well as using LOOT to determine the optimal load order so you don't crash your game constantly, much like most Skyrim mods.
When you factor in how difficult it was to make this mod, it's all the more impressive. The maps are very well made, ranging from desert to jungle as the mod goes on. These areas are a bit linear but packed full of detail regardless. The story involves a bit of Elder Scrolls lore, taking you back to Elsweyr with the Followers of the Mane. The setup is pretty intriguing, but if you only played Skyrim, you might be a little lost on the lore side of things.
There are custom entities too, such as custom armor, custom enemies, custom voice lines for each line of dialogue - with varying quality - and more. Overall, Moonpath to Elsweyr is a very well put together mod considering the times, and opened up the eyes of many to the possibilities of Skyrim modding.
