Netscape isn’t and infamous name as it was one of the most used browsers just when Internet was getting popular, and only when Internet Explorer came in power and later derived into Mozilla.
Netscape has a lot of features, ones of a major utility than others, some of them are standard ones used in most of the browsers, like tabs and RSS support, and some others are completely new, which may lack on Firefox and Internet Explorer. At first sight we get impressed by the new appearance of the browser. The many different functions of it include tabs, RSS support, pop-up blocker, password administrator, add-on support, import of favourites from other browsers or Linkpad service which lets having a kind of a temporary list of favourites where we can save the webs we like or pages to read later but not permanently.
In general right now Netscape doesn’t have anything to lack of, but as it is a browser that won’t be updated any more because its development had been cancelled, we should use it carefully as it may not be as well prepared for blocking the latest network threats and neither does it support the latest web standards: we have to take into account that it was last updated in 2008.
Regardless of this all, it is still a very lightweight browser suitable to work on old setups or low power computers as it requires few resources and back then it was a kind of web browsing all over the world.
