Fan-made recreations of old games are sometimes the only way to experience them in modern times. It's sad, but it's true. There are a ton of classics that are just nearly impossible to play outside of these fan creations. Thankfully, these fan-made recreations are usually incredibly faithful and being constantly developed on to the point where it can be considered an amazing enhanced port. One of these recreations is OpenTTD.

To install OpenTTD, just run the executable and you're good to go.

At first glance, if you aren't familiar with the original game, you may fee like this is an incredibly outdated looking game. The low resolution isometric graphics may look bad now, but please understand they were pretty top tier in terms of visual fidelity at the time. However, this game still plays great.

You need to play the tutorial if you haven't played the game before. It is large, has tons of detail, and it's incredibly easy to accidentally screw up with one little input. On top of that, the interface can get really small if you use a large resolution for whatever reason. However, once you get past that, this is one of the best economy/business sim games out there and the depth of the gameplay is incredibly smooth.

All in all, if you're a fan of business simulation games, then you should definitely give OpenTTD a download. It's free to play, still constantly being updated, and have a ton of custom created scenarios by players all around the world.
