Every antivirus has a different way of scanning your computer, but RogueKiller has a special way that I don't think, at least, has been advertised so far. It actively scans every process that is currently running, cleans it, and wipes it out. Most other programs tend to only scan files on your computer, not the ones that are currently running right now.
Keep in mind, however, that while it deletes malicious Startup files and any other processes, it doesn't wipe out the files themselves. It recommends using other anti-malware software for that, like Malwarebytes. RogueKiller also packs tools that clean obsolete shortcuts, fix internet issues relating to Host, Proxy, and DNS, as well as many types of scans that search your systems back and front.
RogueKiller recommends you quit all processes before running a scan, just like most installers recommend you close every other program before installing. It helps keep interference out of the scan. Once you boot it up properly, it will start with a prescan and send that info to the developer. You can either accept or close the program. Each scan takes a short amount of time - only took me about 2 minutes to completely scan the system. You can then remove each virus personally, and a report will be generated for your perusal. If you'd like, you can read through the report - it's very comprehensive.
This piece of software shores up any computer's security significantly. I would recommend this to anybody wanting to protect themselves from virtual threats.
