Final Fantasy basically codified the turn based JRPG format, with the formula lasting from the 80s to now with only some minor tweaks and streamlining to the system. It's also accessible enough that it can be applied to games with a variety of budgets - in fact, the famous RPG maker software makes it simple to make an RPG with barely any budget. However, there are some that tried to go further beyond before that engine came out. One of them is the Sonny series - let's look at the first installment, Sonny.
To install Sonny, simply run the file in whatever SWF player you have.
This game is very well known for its unique setup. You play as a "good zombie" in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. Unfortunately, what this means is that everybody - human and undead - are after you. To humans, you're just another zed. To zombies, you're a little too sentient for them.
The gameplay is standard RPG fare, with gear that you can find or purchase and turn based combat. You get to pick from four classes in the beginning that drastically change your playstyle. These classes are fairly balanced, which is a surprise considering the amateurish design of most flash games.
The audio is notable in that it has voice acting. While it doesn't hold up too well today, it was unheard of back when it was released.
All in all, Sonny doesn't hold up too well today, but its unique setting props it up far past where it should be.
