Sonic fan games are some of the strangest beasts out there. During its most popular era, there was a ton of fan content, most of which are shoddily made or incredibly "edgy". The Sonic RPG series is no stranger to any of these fan content tropes. In fact, it might seem like one of the worst offenders of it.
However, the evolution of the series is quite interesting. There are three eras to it - episodes 1-4, which are very badly written, episodes 5-8, which have high production value and better writing, and episodes 9-10, which revamp the gameplay completely. Let's look at Sonic RPG Episode 10, which has been over half a decade in the making.
To play Sonic RPG Episode 10, just run the executable and you're good to go.
This has taken the longest out of any entry to release, and it shows. This has by far the highest production value out of any episode. between each battle is a fully fledged cinematic that is incredibly well animated relatively to the rest of the series. The battle system is now a combination of the old school turn based systems and the active gameplay of episode 9.
The story finally concludes here as well, and it's a relatively satisfying conclusion to the story, with every major character contributing and paying off the multiple plotlines that have been building up.
All in all, Sonic RPG Episode 10 represents the end of one of the most fascinating Sonic fan series out there. It's been a trip watching this series grow and evolve before our eyes.
