Wolfenstein is one of the better known FPS franchises out there, with it being nearly as influential for the genre as DOOM was. And much like DOOM, it also had a recent revival of the franchise with some critically acclaimed entries. Before all that, however, were the classic games. Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory was one of the last ones from that era, and its multiplayer still lives to this day for free.
To install Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, simply run the executable and you're good to go.
To start off with, the shooting mechanics of this game are fantastic and show exactly why arena shooters were the way to go before. However, this game is more team based than a lot of those classic arena shooters. It has a ton of different roles that all fulfill different roles. Being a medic and rushing around the battlefield is fantastic, and arming yourself with a heavy machinegun and mowing down anyone who enters your field of fire is ridiculously fun. You can also lay down artillery to support troops if you don't want to engage the enemy yourself.
There are also universal techniques such as bunny hopping and spray control. The maps are also incredibly well-designed and well balanced for each of these classes. There's plenty in the game to work and improve at, and incredibly satisfying when you progress your skills.
Overall, if you're a fan of shooters, then you should definitely give Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory a download. It's a fantastic game that's still very much alive to this day.
