Low budget indie games tend to be some of the most creative around, assuming they aren't just flipping assets poorly in Unity. Without the budget to create an epic, the creators instead need to focus on one unique feature to make their games stick out. From these restrictions come some truly inventive concepts. One of them is ABANDONED 64, which is about a teenager who's having dangerous thoughts.
To play ABANDONED 64, simply run the executable after unzipping it to a folder.
You play a game that's in the N64 Zelda style of graphics and gameplay, which is incredibly charming in its own way compared to the rush of PSX style games right now. However, this game is unique in that you're playing a dev build of the game. This means that devs have left a ton of notes all around the game about certain bugs that you must use to progress this unfinished game.
However, some of these bugs stretch the limit of imagination. For example, how in the world was the lock on feature tied to the Y plane movement of the character? Why does locking on stop you from going up or down? Some bizarre bugs like that stop the premise from being that compelling.
However, the meta story around the dev team and why it was forced to stop developing the game is quite sad and an all too common story in the gaming industry.
All in all, if you want to play a game with an incredibly unique premise, then you should give ABANDONED 64 a download.
