Low budget indie games tend to be some of the most creative around, assuming they aren't just flipping assets poorly in Unity. Without the budget to create an epic, the creators instead need to focus on one unique feature to make their games stick out. From these restrictions come some truly inventive concepts. One of them is Giselle, which is about a teenager who's having dangerous thoughts.
To play Romancing Flesh, simply run the executable after unzipping it to a folder.
The game follows a teenage girl named Giselle. She's locked herself in her room and is struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts. There is someone out there that can help her, but unfortunately, she needs to help herself before she can accept help from others. It is a surprisingly accurate view on suicidal folk - they need to want help before they can be helped.
The art style is very appealing, with it harkening back to the mid 2000s style of Teenage Robots and Newgrounds animations. It's very simple and appealing. This makes the more shocking moments stand out even more, and the way the room changes to reflect her mindset comes with some eldrich horror.
The story itself is incredibly well written, even if it is overbearing and somewhat exaggerated at times. It handles its subject matter well enough to do justice to the topic, which is somewhat hard to pull off.
All in all, if you want to play a game with an incredibly unique premise, then you should give Romancing Flesh a download.
