DOOM is one of the oldest FPSes in existence, and its engine is famously so robust that it can run on pretty much anything and also create pretty much anything. From FPSes to RPGs to companions to a city living game, it has a ton of different mods and maps that can all do different things. One of the many is ALOHA999.
To install ALOHA999, you need to have ZDoom and move the WAD file into the GZDoom folder, which is pretty par for the course for DOOM mods.
When you boot this map up and play a few levels, you'll notice some shortcomings. While each level is well laid out geometrically speaking and competent in design, the creator fails to engage on multiple levels. For example, each combat encounter tends to only feature one enemy type at a time, which really makes each combat encounter repetitive as each of these types typically have one optimal way to dispose of them. On top of that, while the geometry is competent, the texture work isn't. There are plenty of texture realignment errors scattered around.
That isn't to say that it has no upsides whatsoever, as some of the puzzles have pretty interesting solutions. He makes it so secret doors are the solution to several of the puzzle, making exploration a core pillar of the map. Overall, however, there is a ton of different things dragging this map down. If you can look past all of them, then you should give ALOHA999 a download.
