Game jams are the source of some of the most creative games around. For those unaware, game jams are events where a team has to create a game in 24-72 hours from scratch. The extreme lack of time leads the team to generally create new gameplay concepts that are inventive yet simple, as there is no time to pretty it up with insane graphics or a ton of different gameplay systems intertwined with each other. One of these games is Fingerolympics.
To install Fingerolympics, simply unzip the archive and run the executable to start playing.
This game comprises of eleven different minigames, all revolving around one simple concept - the number keys on your keyboard, specifically the row of 1-9. Each of these buttons controls one of the 9 fingers on the bottom of the screen. Pressing their respective button will cause them to leap up a bit.
This very simple gameplay mechanic is used for every one of those eleven different minigames very intelligently. For example, there is a physics-based ball game where you have to keep a ball above a line that will steadily get higher. If you just spam the buttons, however, then the timing will be off and the ball will drop below the line. This makes it surprisingly skill-based.
You can play this game as one person, but the game advertises 9 player coop. I have no idea how you'd fit nine hands on the keyboard, but that is an option. If you want to experience a fun and fast game, then you should give Fingerolympics a download.
