Greenlander DEMO

Low-budget indie games tend to be some of the most creative around, assuming they aren't just flipping assets poorly in Unity. Without the budget to dazzle the audience with beautiful graphics, they instead need to focus on something else to stand out. These restrictions can lead to some very creative premises. Let's look at Greenlander.

To install Greenlander, simply unzip the files inside the archive into any folder you want.

The premise couldn't be simpler. You play as a Viking who arrives on Greenland only to find it overrun with invaders who have wiped your people out. You pick up an axe from a nearby corpse and off you go.

This game is very similar to Hotline Miami with a couple of very important differences. The biggest is that this is more melee-based than Hotline Miami. Enemies have less ranged attacks, and you don't have many ranged options outside of picking up environmental items and throwing them at people.

The second is that you have a parry move after acquiring a shield. You can only use it after filling up your Bloodrage, after which you will shield bash in a direction that will also block any attack in that direction. This makes the game somehow even more fast paced, as you're rewarded for killing fast with a tool that helps you kill even faster. 

And last but not least, ranged enemies are a lot less threatening because you have a shield. Even if you don't have a bash ready, you can always just hold it up and block attacks normally.

All in all, Greenlander is an incredibly unique game that everybody should check out.
