Transfer of files between server and computer relies on protocols, which is why having a program that has several of these protocols at once is important. There are a ton of multi-protocol file transfer software out there that will help you connect to multiple servers, but not all of them are free, and not all of them are effective. Portable CarotDAV is one of the best ones out there.
To install Portable CarotDAV, simply unzip the files where you want. This is the same program as CarotDAV, but portable.
The program has a lot of different functions. For starters, you can connect to all your favorite remote file storages. That's probably Onedrive or Google Drive for most people, but this also includes WebDAV, FTP, DropBox, Box, or SugarSync remote storages and easily manage and organize all files in there. In addition, you can manage files from IMAP servers, which are normally used to store emails and other similar data.
This program will use several protcols to connect to various remote servers to manage the servers and data there, some of which are HTTP/1.1 (RFC2616), HTTPS (RFC2818), DAV class 1(RFC2518), 3(RFC4918), HTTP Proxy, Client Certificate, FTP (RFC959), and FTPS (FTP over TLS) (RFC4217, RFC2228, RFC2246). These protocols are all fairly common ones that all remote servers use.
To sum everything up, this is a fantastic file manager that acts as an all-in-one client for connecting and managing files from various remote servers and data storages. If you use these file storages as much as I do, you'd also love to use Portable CarotDAV.
