Low budget indie games tend to be some of the most creative around, assuming they aren't just flipping assets poorly in Unity. Without the budget to create an epic, the creators instead need to focus on one unique feature to make their games stick out. From these restrictions comes some truly inventive concepts. One of them is SOMETHING, where you play as the monster
To play SOMETHING, simply run the executable after unzipping it to a folder.
You play as the titular Something, and start off in a cell with some researchers outside talking about how disappointing a subject you are due to how little is significant about you. This is right before a power outage occurs and the researchers are killed by a mysterious monster who lets you out.
From there, you do your best to escape from the facility. The SCP inspiration is completely clear here, as you can find logs dotted around the area about various anomalies and monsters in the facility. As you keep trying to escape, you'll encounter armed security personnel who you can tear through with little effort as well as other hostile monsters. It seems that the monster you're playing as is fairly low on the totem pole.
The gameplay itself is fairly straightforward, with WASD as movement and left click as your only attack. It seems incredibly difficult to die so long as you're actively attacking to defend yourself.
All in all, if you want to play a game with an incredibly unique perspective, then you should give SOMETHING a download.
