The Flood from Halo is one of the more interesting "zombies" in gaming. They're fast, know how to use firearms, have multiple forms and can't raise new allies from the dead unless their most vulnerable forms makes contact with a corpse. All of this may sound intimidating, but they're not too hard to deal with as a player. However, all these roles become a lot more interesting if you play as them, as The Flood: Virulence proves.
To install The Flood: Virulence, make sure you have opensauce installed and unzip it into the Halo maps folder.
The story of this campaign slots neatly into the main campaign of Halo, with some of the later levels having you operate behind the scenes while Master Chief is on his rampage. The most obvious example is a level where you feed biomass to the proto-Gravemind that Captain Keyes is trapped in during the original campaign.
The gameplay is addicting. Your dynamic with the Covenant is completely shifted - no longer are Elites the priority target to be murdered. No, they can be turned into a combat form to expand your horde that will follow you through the level. Just knock their shield down and get an infection form to them. Your attention should instead be on the Grunts and Jackals - if they're allowed to survive for too long, they could wipe out your infection forms and stop your horde from expanding.
If you're a Halo fan, you absolutely have to try out The Flood: Virulence.
