Microsoft Outlook may be more modern now, but there are still people who use the older versions of Outlook. These versions may not seem like a big problem for those who use the modern Outlook, but those using anything else will find that any email they receive from these outdated versions of Outlook have attachments that are TNEF-encoded files - winmail.dat being the most infamous one. Windows doesn't come built with a program to open these files - you'd have to download a third party program.
That is where the Winmail Opener comes in. It's designed specifically to open these encoded files and present them in a way that is easy to digest. It's interface is reminiscent of older Windows, like Windows XP or 95. Do note that it doesn't support any Windows below XP because those Outlook programs are what it's targeting. The Winmail Opener supports 13 different languages and is small in size, so it barely uses memory or disk space. In fact, the application uses so few resources that you would barely notice it running in the background.
It's incredibly user-friendly as well. It doesn't come with too many options, and that's because it's so straightforward. In fact, the only things in the option menu are the language settings and the ability to set it to be the default program to associate with .dat files. Otherwise, all you have to do is either open the files directly or drag and drop if you so choose.
If you're tired of telling people how to modify their system to send plain text or HTML, then the Winmail Opener is perfect for you.
