The market for email clients is a very hard one to crack. You have the big two with Outlook and Apple Mail, which almost every windows and mac user has used one of them before. And you have Mozilla's Thunderbird which has been gaining traction as of late as the best free alternative to Apple Mail and Outlook. However there are several others such as MailWasher - an email client that also serves as a strong spam blocker. They all pretty much do the same things though.
They allow you to read your mail, mark some as important, delete some, etc, but Opera Mail is a little bit different. Yes Opera Mail also handles those basic emailing needs, but it does so through a lightweight and unobtrusive interface design. Elegant tabs at the top of the interface allow you to view multiple emails at once and switch between them with absolute ease.
Organization is a big deal with Opera Mail. With Threads, you can smartly organize your mail by context. If your mail has a specific context associated with it you can keep up with the context of any mail thread, and quickly view previous messages in the conversation. With Labels, you can sort your messages quickly and easily. You can change the labels at any time and add labels to or remove labels from any email easily. Changing or renaming the labels allows you to be more organized and helps you find exactly what you're looking for.
Opera Mail is a great alternative to the more price and resource expensive email clients. If you're looking for a free, lightweight alternative, go ahead and give opera a try.
