Low budget indie games tend to be some of the most creative around, assuming they aren't just flipping assets poorly in Unity. Without the budget to create an epic, the creators instead need to focus on one unique feature to make their games stick out. From these restrictions come some truly inventive concepts. One of them is A Mirage of Home, which is a horror game with a unique twist on the ol' "cameras can see ghosts" trope by making it so the camera is stuck in selfie mode.
To play Mirage of Home, simply run the executable after unzipping it to a folder.
This game utilizes a selfie camera that's constantly in the corner of your screen. It can see into an alternate dimension that has a ton of clues, and you need to use this solve a bunch of puzzles in the house as well as keeping a constant look behind you. This is unique from other similar horror games, because you can't see the ghosts in front of you now, while being able to see where the pursuing ghosts are exactly. It adds a ton of uncertainty to the game and really helps build the tension.
Outside of that, it's a very solid puzzle game as well. The idea of having to constantly stare at your phone for clues opens you up to being jumpscared easier, which is a great piece of game design.
All in all, if you want to play a game with an incredibly unique premise, then you should give Mirage of Home a download.
