Endless Forest 3.41

MMORPGs have a very clear, defined structure nowadays. Walk here, get a quest, maybe get a side helping of cutscenes and story with it, kill or grab something, go back, and repeat. Not many games lean heavily into the social aspect of the game either, with matchmaking systems so streamlined and most content so easy nowadays that one would have to go out of their way to engage with other people anywhere before the vaunted endgame. Endless Forest is the complete antithesis to all of that.

It's hard to really pin down exactly what Endless Forest is, but the closest thing I can compare it to is an...interactive screensaver. I would call it a chat room, except you can't really chat with all the other people - you mostly communicate by making noises and pictograms. That's it. You control a deer and make sounds at other deer. This may sound absolutely ridiculous and have you wondering why anyone would play it. I had the same thought, but I found that actually playing it was actually really...calming. 

In case you aren't familiar with the developer, Tale of Tales is known for its experimental games. They created The Path and The Sunset a while back. and they share a similar feel and theme with the Endless Forest. They both have you wandering around an unfamiliar environment and finding your way through. The only difference is that you can share the experience with other people...and it's still officially supported by its developers.
