Low-budget indie games tend to be some of the most creative around, assuming they aren't just flipping assets poorly in Unity. Without the budget to dazzle the audience with beautiful graphics, they instead need to focus on something else to stand out. These restrictions can lead to some very creative premises. Let's look at Fake Signals.

To install Fake Signals, simply unzip the files inside the archive into any folder you want.

The premise is pretty simple. You're an assassin who was injured in an explosion, and decide to take revenge on the people who hurt him. The game is clearly inspired by John Wick in setting, as the main character looks almost exactly like Keanu Reeves. The gameplay itself is very similar to Hotline Miami, being a mix of action and stealth where you have to find the best strategy as you will die in a single hit much like your enemies.

This game does put its own spin on the formula, however. First, it's a sidescroller, which affords you more information on where the enemies are and limits the ways they can approach you. This makes the game overall easier than its inspiration.

The second is how reloading and weapon changing works. To reload, you need to approach an ammo box and hold a button, and your character will crouch and physically reload. He's very vulnerable while doing this. Weapon exchanging is much the same, with you needing to crouch by a weapon box and physically select what weapon you want before it spawns and you can pick it up.

All in all, Fake Signals is an incredibly unique game that everybody should check out.
