Low budget indie games tend to be some of the most creative around, assuming they aren't just flipping assets poorly in Unity. Without the budget to create an epic, the creators instead need to focus on one unique feature to make their games stick out. From these restrictions come some truly inventive concepts. Necrofugitive solves this by having an incredibly unique premise where you play as a monster who can transform into anybody you kill.
To play Necrofugitive, simply unzip the files into a folder and run the executable.
In the story, you play as the last surviving member of the Cult of Skoroz. The rest of your cult was slain by the knights and you were imprisoned, but you just recently escaped your cell. Your character has the ability to turn into any of your victims, but you can only store one at a time.
This is the main crux of the gameplay, though you have other powers as well. You can shapeshift into a powerful demonic beast that give you powerful claws to cut your enemies apart, and also the ability to wield any weapon that your victims had when you shapeshifted into them.
Right now, there are only three levels. Two combat arenas and one stealth level which sees you sneaking through a castle, finding keys, and escaping. There are some issues with stealth at the moment, but nothing that you can't play around.
All in all, Necrofugitive is an incredibly fun bite-size chunk of a very promising game.
