Low budget indie games tend to be some of the most creative around, assuming they aren't just flipping assets poorly in Unity. Without the budget to create an epic, the creators instead need to focus on one unique feature to make their games stick out. From these restrictions come some truly inventive concepts. The Chameleon tries to stick out by having a stealth gimmick where you have to sneak past everybody with a variety of superpowers.
To play The Chameleon, simply unzip the files into a folder and run the executable.
The game starts with you waking up in an underground facility wearing a Hawaiian shirt and absolutely surrounded by dead bodies. An alarm blares telling everybody in the facility to evacuate. You don't know anything else.
As you make your way through the facility, you'll start obtaining superpowers. The first and most important one is the ability to temporarily transform into your enemies, letting you walk right past them. It does deplete your energy, though, so you have to be quick about it.
The other powers are a dash and a super punch, but these don't come into play nearly as often. The transforming power makes the game much faster paced than most other stealth games. Instead of memorizing routes while hiding behind a crate, you are instead trying to route through guards as quickly as possible.
All in all, The Chameleon is a very fun experience despite its short, 20 minute length. This build of the game will constantly be getting updated, though, so keep an eye on it!
