Overheating is one of the biggest risks to everyday notebook usage, especially if you're running intensive games or benchmarks. If you overheat, your notebook will automatically shut down to prevent your CPU from being damaged. This typically doesn't give any consideration to your unsaved files. However, controlling your fan on a notebook is surprisingly annoying. Most have it built-in, but those are typically hard settings. NoteBook FanControl gives you far more control.
The installation process for NoteBook FanControl is streamlined and straightforward. The program will then integrate with your taskbar, and once you launch it for the first time, you'll be greeted with a compact and simple main window.
The upper toolbar is where you can select one of multiple configurations based on your laptop's make and model. There is a preset configuration from multiple notebooks, such as Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Packard Bell, Lenovo, and Sony to name a few. You can see whether your laptop's supported or not by visiting the app's official GitHub page.
Once you select a configuration, you can then enable or disable the fan control service and tweak the fan's actual speed via a simple slider located in the middle part of the window. This program will also provide you with a real-time CPU temperature reading and current fan speed.
The program will retreat to the tray area whenever you close or minimize the tray icon. NoteBook FanControl is fantastic at what it does and thus, that makes it easy to recommend to everybody.
