Hybrid genres are traditionally very hard to pull off. Sometimes, two genres are just fundamentally incompatible and slapping them together can sometimes make a game borderline unplayable. However, that does not mean we have tapped into every hybrid genre out there. Prismata proves that, with its unique beldn fo RTS and card game actually working incredibly well.
To install Prismata, make sure you have Steam installed. Once that's done, go to this link to install it.
This game takes place in a dystopian future where robots are in every corner and wars are now fought by drones. However, instead of being an RTS, each battle is fought with card games. There are a few change to the formula, though. Each player shares the same deck and the same card area, making this much less of a card game and more of a strategy game as you try to predict and outplay the other player.
This makes each battle play out like a game of chess instead of a traditional card game. You can't hide cards from enemies - every single card is played face up. Each player can put down walls to block off the enemy, resource collectors to get more resources with which to play cards, and units that all counter one or another. In any other game, those details will sound like an RTS game, and it truly does blend those two elements fantastically.
If any of this sounds interesting to you, then you should definitely give Prismata a download.
