Point and click games used to be all the craze until around the 2010s. Now, they're usually relegated to mid size productions or simple indie titles. The genre also proved incredibly popular among flash game creators, due to the relatively simple planning and programming that goes into such a game. Let's take a look at one of the most surprisingly great point and click Flash series out there - Submachine. Specifically, Submachine 3: The Loop.

As soon as you boot the game up, you'll notice that this entry is different from the last two. As the intro says, there are no items to collect, no diary to keep, no trash bin to check. It's just you, a machine, an indicator in the top left, and an infinite metallic world full of endless looping rooms.

Of course, these rooms aren't all absolutely identical. There are certain switches and various other mechanics in some of these rooms that you have to keep track of. There is a coordinate system in the top left to help you navigate this absolutely massive world.

The puzzles range from simple to complex, but none of them are impossible, however much if may feel from the lack of hand holding and tutorials. The visuals are effectively ominous, along with the audio.

All in all, Submachine 3: The Loop changes the formula set by the last two entries, showing the series isn't afraid to experiment.
