You don't need to install Tech Tool Store.  You can start browsing and running through the software suggestions immediately. Should you find the default expanded view overwhelming, you can always collapse them from the dedicated function in the menu. Alternatively, if you know what application you want specifically, all you have to do is run a dedicated search function.

However, you're not going to be able to find every application you need from the program. You can always add new ones easily, specifying the name, download link, type, and link text. You can also specify whether it should unpack into the same folder as the rest. Adding tools in this fashion creates a special subfolder labeled "my own tools". There are also a bunch of other ways to manage the list, like hiding them from the list, updating, running, or uninstalling the ones you select.
