THE INQUISITOR 1.0

DOOM is one of the oldest FPSes in existence, and its engine is famously so robust that it can run on pretty much anything and also create pretty much anything.  From FPSes to RPGs to companions to a city living game, it has a ton of different mods that can all do different things. However, there are also simpler mods called WADs that are simply maps. One of them is THE INQUISITOR.

To install THE INQUISITOR, you need to have GZDoom. Then, copy the .pk3 file into the GZDoom folder and drag it on top of the GZDoom.exe to start playing.

This mod has extensive lore in its included PDF. It takes place in Khorus, which is where the Hexen 2 villain invaded. Khorus held out because of its technological prowess, but they're steadily losing the war. The court mage attempted to summon the warriors that defeated him, but they were imprisoned, and you, the Doomguy, managed to escape.

Despite the fact that you're Doomguy, this is a very slow paced game because of the weapons you have. It's mostly melee, with the ranged weapons having limited ammo and power while enemies swarm you constantly. You can free the Hexen prisoners to help you, but their AI is incredibly spotty and they're not really that effective. 

The mod does look fantastic, however, and the hub based design of the map makes progression very satisfying and easy as well.

Overall, THE INQUISITOR is an incredible map that any DOOM fan should give a shot.
