Tox 1.8.1

A free, open source, and encrypted instant messaging and video calling client, Tox has a goal for providing secure and easily accessible communication for everyone. It was incepted in June of 2013 during a discussion concerning privacy on Skype because of the global surveillance disclosures that had occurred a few weeks before. This encouraged the creation of the software as a absolute secure way of text and video communication. 

Instead of a username, with Tox you are assigned a private and public key. You are also connected directly to each other directly in a peer to peer network. With Tox, you have the ability to message friends, join chat rooms with friends and/or strangers, and send one another files. Tox uses the NaCI encryption library making all of the data you share with one another, including your conversations, are all safe, secure, and not accessible by anyone else. 

The official client aims to provide users support for messaging, group messaging, voice calling, video calling, voice conferencing, video conferencing, typing indicators, read receipts, push to talk technology, file sharing, and desktop streaming. As of this time, not all of these features are available, but instant messaging, group messaging, audio and video calls are all available and accessible from the mains clients as of right now.
