Nowadays, with so many people social distancing in the midst of this pandemic, almost every business that's still running has turned to video conferencing tools. Not just businesses though - everybody who lives apart from friends and wants to keep up also use this. I've personally used some to keep up with friends, for example. Others on Twitter even mentioned attending funerals using Zoom.
To install Zoom, all you need to do is run the installer and you're good to go.
Using Zoom can't be easier. One of you needs to create a room and give the link to your friends. Once that's done, they can hop in anytime they want. They don't even need an account to join the room - only the creator does. And even when the creator only has a free account, they can host up to 100 people on the call for free, and you can see as many as 49 people at once in a gallery style view.
Group calls for free users (aka the creator) are limited to 40 minutes. However, one on one calls are infinite. The settings are different depending on if you're using the web app or the downloaded app, and it's in your best interest to explore both. Some options let you put attendees on hold, give remote control to another person, and more.
All in all, Zoom is one of the best video conferencing programs out there. If you need to keep in touch with someone or if your business just plain ol' requires it, then give it a download.
