The NES is one of the most influential consoles around. Pretty much all of Nintendo's franchises started here, not to mention countless others. However, it's far gone at this point and honestly, if you play those games today, they'd feel a tiny bit dated unless you're a dedicated player like a speedrunner. There have been a few efforts to bring it into modern time, and 3DNes is one of those attempts.
To use 3DNes, just unzip it and run the executable. This program is two different things. An emulator, and a converter at the same time. It emulates NES games and transforms them into three-dimensional versions. Obviously, it isn't true 3D and doesn't affect anything as far as gameplay goes, but it does go far in making them feel a bit more modern.
There are a ton of different settings. You can reconfigure the render parameters and even add special effects like vignette or analog screen lines. As for the performance, it's safe to say that you can run it on any relatively modern computer. It's still NES games, and the 3D effect is more voxel than anything. It might take a toll if you're running an older computer, but the quality level is still incredibly low. On top of that, you can modify the resolution and graphical settings whenever you want.
All in all, 3DNes isn't a perfect tool, but it's still pretty interesting. It lets you experience NES games in a whole different light, and that could potentially be priceless.
