Duplicate Cleaner Free 4.1.2

As you use your computer, duplicate files will show up. That's because that even if you, personally, never save duplicate files, they will naturally appear as Windows does its thing. Furthermore, even if two files don't share the same name, they can also be an exact copy in every other sense, but you'd never know at first glance. Duplicate Cleaner is here to help you remove these duplicate files and clean up your disk!

Installation is incredibly straightforward. If you've installed things before, you'd have no trouble here. The first impression upon booting up the program is positive - it's incredibly slick and clean. It's minimalist in a way that doesn't impede its clarity. When you click scan, you'll have to first select what kind of scan you want to run, and then you'll need to select which folders to scan. Despite Duplicate Cleaner specifying folders, I went ahead and selected both of my drives. I was using my laptop at the time, so that's around 538 gigaytes of files for it to scan through. Despite that, it still only took ten minutes to scan everything. To my surprise, it located about a gigabyte's worth of duplicate files - much more significant than I was expecting. 

After it finishes scanning, it give syou a list of files that are color coded, which is incredibly easy to use. You can quickly select which files you want to keep and which ones to remove. The only bad part is that it pops up an ad every time you boot it up telling you to get the pro version. I personally think there's no need - the free version already does everything it says it does. Duplicate Cleaner works well and I recommend it to anyone needing something like this.
