Video games have come a long way over the years, but a ton of people still long for the "good ol' days". However, msot of the old games that are available have had their support completely dropped and are unavailable by conventional means. Emulators are an important part in preserving gaming history, and Stella is one for the Atari 2600.
Installing Stella is easy. Simply run the installer and you're good to go. As soon as you boot it up, you'll notice an incredibly simplistic interface - fitting, as it emulates one of the most simplistic gaming consoles of all time.
You'll need ROMs of Atari games to run them, which you can find all across the internet. As soon as you have the ROMs you want to try out, you should visit the options menu to see whether everything is to your liking. You can modify your video, audio, and input settings. More specifically, you can pick the desired rendering device, tweak the audio sampling rate, or customize the controller options. Both the PAL and NTSC modes are included, as well as playing the game in fullscreen with VSync.
One thing that adds some more authenticity to this emulator is that it can add TV effects over the image, emulating the flawed television screens in that era to really give you the authentic experience. All in all, if you want to play Atari 2600 games for whatever reason, then Stella is one of the rare emulators that can run every single game on that console perfectly.
